
A Guide To Chat Room Lingo
Because chat rooms require players to communicate by typing on a keyboard, a number of abbreviations and short-cuts have been invented for common phrases and sayings. These are usually typed in lower case, as in the listings below, but use of upper case means the same thing. For example, "brb" and "BRB" both mean "Be right back".
Study the list of chat room lingo terms below and you'll soon find that you suddenly understand what all those strange letter combinations you keep seeing actually mean!

((nickname))
Used to symbolise giving someone a hug, so, if you wanted to give Mary a hug you would type ((Mary))
1tg (or 2tg, 3tg, etc.)
The player has one number to go (or two or three) before they have a winning line.
a/s/l?
Someone wants to know your age, sex and location.
afk
A player is going to be away from their keyboard. If this is followed by 2p (afk2p) then they are going to be away from their keyboard in order to go to the loo (to pee!)
b
Back. A player who has been away is now back at their keyboard. The term bak can also be used for a similar purpose (back at keyboard).
bbl
The player will be back later.
blnt
Better luck next time - often seen at the end of a game.
brb
The player will be right back.
btw
By the way - as in, "btw, Jenny was asking after you the other day."
