Coventry Gala Platinum

Gala Savoy Coventry Platinum Bingo JackpotAnother platinum jackpot has been won by a Gala Bingo player in Coventry just weeks before Gala cease to be involved in the National Bingo Game. The winner was a 64 year old grandmother who has been playing bingo from the age of 20.

Playing at the Gala Savoy Club in Coventry, the winner made a full house in 42 calls to scoop a house prize of £120, a club prize of £880, a Zone prize of £3,076, a Sunday National Game prize of £66,640 and the Platinum Jackpot worth £508,145, giving her a grand total of £578,861.

The winner plays bingo at the Gala Bingo club with her sister, and intends sharing the win equally with her. “This will make such a difference to us, we will have no money worries for the rest of our lives,” she said. “She is over the moon too. I thought I had just won the National Game, I didn’t know it was the Platinum jackpot. I said to one of the managers that is £28,000 each for me and my sister. He looked at me in surprise and told me how much it actually was and then I went to pieces. He offered me a brandy but I don’t drink so I had a glass of water!

“I am still very much in shock and my husband and I didn’t sleep at all last night and we still can’t grasp it. But at least the shakes have stopped! It has come completely out of the blue; a once in a lifetime opportunity and we shall use it wisely.  We will look after our two girls and two granddaughters, have a holiday and invest the rest.  My sister, who lives close by and has three children, is planning to pay off her mortgage.”

Gayle Morgan, General Manager of the Gala Savoy Club, said: “The winner was completely shocked by the win, particularly after everyone started clapping and cheering her. Customers kept coming up and congratulating her but I don’t think it had sunk in.”
