Ladbrokes Bingo adverts investigated

Well if the old adage is true and all advertising is good advertising then Ladbrokes Bingo must be pleased as punch with this little bit of free advertising by way of a ruling from the ASA brought about after a single complaint about an advert for their online bingo site.

The advert, for Ladbrokes bingo online, shows a man and his wife sitting at a dining table, while the man looking though a box of car engine parts, the woman looks decidedly bored and after her husband encourages her to sniff a bit of the engine she gets up and goes to play bingo at her favourite online bingo site, Ladbrokes Bingo.

The team at Ladbrokes have had the Ladbrokes bingo adverts investigated after one complaint that the ad breached current gambling rules, due to it portraying a woman, who was unhappy and lonely in a poor relationship with her husband, escapes her personal problems by playing bingo online.

The complaint was not upheld and quite frankly I wonder what sort of person, clearly someone with a sense of humour bypass would possibly want to complain about this ad. It’s humorous, entertaining and I can’t speak for the rest of you, but this advert is certainly a good paradox on my relationship, where most evenings are spent with my husband rooting through classic car magazines for elusive parts while I escape to the other room for a couple of hours playing at my favourite online bingo site.

Either way, here I am writing about it which means Ladbrokes bingo must be smiling to themselves at all the free advertising this little incident has generated for them.
