Lucky For Some

Friday the 13th was far from unlucky for a clutch of National Bingo Game players last week. In Northampton a woman shared half of the £50,000 top prize with a player in Wales, whilst in Middlesbrough a grandmother scooped £20,000 playing Afternoon Delight.

The lucky Northampton winner is 49 years old and married. She has four children, two grandchildren and has been playing at the Beacon Club in St James for eight years. She plays at the club on a weekly basis, and says that her £25,000 share of the National Bingo Game prize is the first win she’s ever had.

“I don’t normally play on a Thursday evening,” the winner explained, “but had decided to go to bingo that night as one of my daughters was home, visiting from Italy and we wanted a girls’ night out.

Now that she is £25,000 richer, the winner is planning to spend some of her winnings on her family.

Earlier in the day a 62 year old grandmother playing at the Nobles Club in Middlesbrough was equally delighted to win £20,000 after achieving a full house in just 45 numbers. She has been playing bingo for more than a decade and plays twice a week in the afternoons. As with the Northampton winner, this is her first major win.

With four children and twelve grandchildren, the Middlesbrough winner intends to treat her family, buy a new television and enjoy a holiday.

She explained how she felt when she won the game. “I couldn’t believe it when it was announced how much I had won. I was in utter disbelief. All my family are over the moon for me.”
