Blackpool Bingowww.blackpoolbingo.co.uk
Blackpool is the name of a popular coastal resort in the UK, home to the (relatively) famous Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Illuminations and, lest we forget, a plethora of bingo games. The Blackpool Bingo site seeks to bring a bit of the Blackpool magic into the lives of online bingo players, and the home page sets the scene nicely by providing a Sims-like view of a virtual bingo club on the main promenade. The site promises that players will, "Get all the 'buzz' of Blackpool in your home today, it's so much fun you can almost smell the candy floss!" We clicked on the large "Download Now" button to see if the site could live up to those claims. Once the software has been downloaded and installed (this should take just a minute or two) you will be invited to enter the information required to open a new Blackpool Bingo account. This site requires more information than many, including your mailing address and telephone number, so it takes a tad longer to open than account here, but the process itself isn't at all complex. Traditional British 90 ball bingo is the main game on offer here, as it is in the resort of Blackpool itself. Cards cost from 10p each, and bonus offers reward you for buying several cards for a game. For example, if you buy 20 cards is many games, you will get 10 cards free. Some games even give you 10 cards free when you buy just 15 cards. These freebies bring the average cost per card down even further, so you never have to spend a lot to enjoy playing here. The Blackpool Bingo game appears in a window view by default, but you can use the options menu to make it full screen if you prefer. The overall layout of the screen is pleasing, with twelve bingo cards visible at any given time in the centre. To the left of these are a numbers board and bingo ball animation. To the right are details about the game being played and a neat Blackpool Bingo logo. Menu buttons which give you access to your account, mini games and option run along the bottom right of the screen. The whole environment is presented to evoke the sense of playing in Blackpool at night. Numbers are called by either a man or woman (according to your preference) with suitably British accents. We preferred to listen to the man, as he sounded more enthusiastic, but one niggle we had about the whole number calling is the way single numbers are repeated. Double digit numbers are pronounced by calling the separate numbers and then the number itself (for example, "Six and nine sixty nine.") Unfortunately the same happens with single digit numbers, so you end up listening to things like, "One one," and "Seven seven." This might not annoy some players, but we ended up turning the number calling feature off altogether because of it. There is a good selection of mini games, including some with progressive jackpots that really are worth playing for (the jackpot for Megaball stood at over £80,000 whilst we were visiting). Chat is also enjoyable and lively though there doesn't seem to be many people around during off-peak hours. The upside of this is that winning becomes a heck of a lot easier when there are only a handful of people competing against you in the afternoon! Whilst we didn't smell any candy floss during our review, we
could certainly sense a very sweet online bingo experience in
the making. Take an online daytrip to Blackpool Bingo for yourself
and you'll see what we mean! The Fine PrintBlackpool Bingo is licensed and operated from Antigua.
