Miss Bingo is no longer available online and all links now redirect to Party Bingo, the review below is for information purposes only.
Despite the token inclusion of a man on it's otherwise woman-rich home page banner image, it's hard to avoid the impression that the Miss Bingo site is aimed squarely at the female of the species. Everything from the name of the site itself to the liberal use of pinks and pastels in its design is geared to making women feel comfortable and at home, and why not? Although there are men who play bingo online they are almost always outnumbered, so it makes sense to present a site which unashamedly appeals to it's target market.
Whereas some bingo sites allow the casual visitor to preview what lies ahead in the members area, Miss Bingo demands that you download the software first. If you have a good broadband connection then this isn't too much of a problem, and a collection of good reviews on the home page gives dial-up visitors a bit of confidence that the game itself will be worth the wait.
Although you do need to register to enter the members area, you don't need to deposit any money just to take a look around. Simply enter your name, address, e-mail and phone number, then choose a nickname and password and you're in.
The game played here is "pattern bingo". This is played on a five-by-five grid and requires the player to mark numbers which cover a particular pattern. Traditionally, the patterns used are fairly routine - squares, numbers, letters of the alphabet, and so on. However, Miss Bingo brightens things up very nicely by putting some brand new patterns (such as the shark, spider, shell, or salute) into the mix. They also add variety by staging speed games. In these, numbers are called rapidly, and the whole game takes just a couple of minutes to run to completion.
The main game screen is laid out well, with the numbers board, bingo cards and game information clearly presented with some style. A particularly nice touch is the inclusion of a bingo ball animation which shows the numbers being "produced" by the random number generator.
Bingo cards at Miss Bingo cost from $0.10, and even though you have to play a minimum of three cards in any given game, that's a small price to pay for a heap of fun. Each game has a regular prize as well as a progressive jackpot which is paid to any player who can make the required pattern within before a certain number of balls have been called. If the progressive jackpot isn't won, it is simply rolled over - now slightly larger - to the next game, and it is very common for this jackpot to reach four figures before it is paid out to the eventual winner.
Our only gripe about this attractive and entertaining site is that the chat feature is contained in a pop-up window which can sometimes obscure the main bingo screen. However, the chat itself is friendly and welcoming, and a pool of regular visitors means it's possible to form some good online friendships. This, together with a free newsletter for members and a good variety of promotions, makes the overall Miss Bingo experience one that we are happy to recommend.
