As far as we can tell, Ruby Bingo gets its the name from the cartoon lady wearing the cocktail dress on the home page of this equally stylish site. She offers a number of incentives for both new and regular players to play here, including deposit bonuses and games with valuable non-cash prizes, such as holidays in Cancun and Mexico. And, of course, there is plenty of cash bingo on offer, including several games with guaranteed prize payouts.

To play here you will first need to download the Ruby Bingo software by clicking on any of the download or promotional buttons on the site. When the software has downloaded, click on the install button and an account creation screen should appear. This is where you need to enter your personal information, so it only appears the first time you play. After that, you will simply be prompted to log in with your username and password.

Ruby Bingo offers two types of game - 75 ball pattern bingo and traditional 90 ball bingo. Tickets start from as little as $0.01 for the Penny Blackout pattern game (with a full card blackout being the only pattern in that particular game), and from $0.30 for the 90 ball game. Regular prizes vary according to the cost of bingo cards, and progressive jackpots are also on offer. 90 ball bingo is called by a lady with an English accent, whilst the 75 ball games is called by a lady from the US. Clarity is good in both cases, and the women in question sound bright and upbeat.

The main gaming environment here is very well put together, with an attractive layout being complimented nicely by some good audio effects. The numbers board is positioned on the left hand side of the screen, with an animated ball selector above it which shows each number as it emerges from a virtual selection machine. The centre of the screen is reserved for bingo cards, whilst the right hand side provides information about the game being played, including the prize on offer, the pattern required (for pattern bingo only) and the time to the next game. This info panel also gives you a few details about the next game.

Chatting with other players is what makes playing bingo online just as enjoyable as playing in an actual bingo hall, and the chat here is very lively. You will normally be welcomed as soon as you have taken your first virtual step into the chat room, and from there you can expect to participate in some cheerful and friendly conversations. Our only quibble is that the chat appears in a pop-up window, so you will need to make sure you position it in a non-obtrusive location (the default is right in the centre of the screen, which obscures your view of the bingo cards).

A good range of slot machines and other mini games, together with a loyalty scheme which pays Ruby Dollar bonuses, rounds off what we found to be an extremely entertaining site. The bingo is great, the prizes are sometimes spectacular and the conversation as friendly as you could want.

Have fun!
